3 Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On I-80: Illinois State Police

Police said two Aurora residents and a Chicago woman died in a head-on crash on an interstate in Illinois on Labor Day.

WILL COUNTY, IL —Three people died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 early Monday morning, according to officials. Police said I-80 west was closed in the area for more than four hours.

Officials said a Chicago woman driving a 2011 Brown Kia Optima was going the wrong way on I-80 when she ran head-on into another car, killing her as well as two people in the other vehicle.

At 12:17 a.m., police said the Optima was headed east on I-80 west near Wolf Road and was in the left lane, where it hit a 2019 red Nissan Versa.
