Lincoln-Way East Baseball Player Drafted By Chicago Cubs

Lincoln-Way East baseball player Ryan Ritter has been drafted by the Chicago Cubs. Ritter played shortstop for Lincoln-Way East and was drafted by the Cubs in the 33rd round.

The Wine Thief Coming To Downtown Frankfort

The Wine Thief will be located at 6 Elwood St., and the village also approved a special use permit for outdoor seating at the restaurant.The Wine Thief is a full-service restaurant and wine is available by the bottle, glass and at self-service wine stations. The restaurant is planning to open in 2020.


Serial Groper On Old Plank Trail Nabbed After Search: Cops

A Richton Park man was charged after he groped three women in three separate incidents on the Old Plank Road Trail in Frankfort. Police said they learned that Swift was a regular user of the trail and would sometimes park near Larch Road and the Old Plank Road Trail.


Frankfort Prohibits Recreational Cannabis Businesses

Frankfort was one of the first villages in Will County to prohibit recreational cannabis dispensaries. At its Aug. 19 meeting, the Frankfort village board approved an ordinance prohibiting the sale of recreational cannabis within village limits.


Lincoln-Way East Football Wins State Championship

After a shutout win, Lincoln-Way East won the IHSA Class 8A football championship. The Griffins defeated Warren High School 12-0 Nov. 30 at Northern Illinois University to capture its third state title.


Frankfort Village Trustee Retires After 32 Years

After 32 years of service on the village board, trustee Richard Trevarthan has submitted his resignation effective Dec. 2. In his resignation letter, the village said Trevarthan wrote he was resigning for health reasons.
