Frankfort Community Clean-Up Set For April 18

Supplies can be picked up at the Village Hall between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from April 13-17.

FRANKFORT, IL — In celebration of Earth Day and Arbor Day, the Village of Frankfort will hold its annual communitywide clean-up day on April 18.

From neighborhoods and parks to roadways and the Old Plank Road Trail, volunteers of all ages are encouraged to help out in Frankfort, the Village said.

“Who says cleaning up can’t be fun?” Mayor Keith Ogle said in a news release. “This is a great chance to enjoy the outdoors, connect with neighbors, and take pride in our beautiful community.”

Garbage bags, gloves and a T-shirt (while supplies last) will be provided, according to the Village. Supplies can be picked up at the Village Hall between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from April 13-17.

Volunteers can participate any time throughout the day on April 18, finishing by 4 p.m., the Village said. Volunteers will select a cleanup location when picking up supplies.

After collecting trash, participants are asked to place filled bags in visible areas such as rights-of-way, subdivision entrances, along the trail, or near parks for Public Works pickup, the Village said.

Volunteers can also participate in a photo contest, with prizes awarded for the largest item collected, strangest item found, and most trash collected.

To enter, submit a photo of your item(s) to slynchey@frankfortil.org by 11:59 p.m. on April 18. Winners will be announced on April 20.
