Frankfort Mayor To Retire In April 2021, Not Seeking Re-Election
Jim Holland has served as mayor for 16 years, and as trustee for six years before becoming mayor.

FRANKFORT, IL —Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland has announced he will retire as Mayor of Frankfort at the end of his term in April 2021, and will not seek re-election.
In a statement from Holland, he said he has served as mayor for 16 years, and as trustee for six years before becoming mayor.
“It is time for my wife, Stacy, and I to move to another phase of our lives. We are looking forward to spending more time with our grandson, Nikolai, and other family members, and we look forward to additional time for travel," Holland said.

Some of Holland's achievements during his time in office include: improving roads in the village, attracting Mariano's and Emagine Theater to town, reducing the village portion of the property tax rate, paying off the bonds used to purchase Prestwick Utilities, improving Frankfort's downtown area and rebuilding the Breidert Green stage, expanding community policing with different programs and adding downtown events.
“I thank the people of Frankfort for the honor and privilege of serving them as their mayor over the last 16 years. I hope that residents know that I listened to and studied all sides of an issue and then I made decisions based on what I personally believed would be best for all the residents of Frankfort without depriving any individual of his or her rights," Holland said. "I continually worked to improve the quality of our community and it shows in the appearance of
our public buildings, downtown, housing stock and shopping areas. We live in a great
community that has been made so by our residents and dedicated village staff. I will deeply
miss the position of Mayor and working with all Frankfort residents to improve our lives here.
When we are not traveling, Stacy and I will still be around town and we look forward to seeing
our friends and neighbors and talking about all that is good in Frankfort."
