Chicago Heights Teen Arrested In Matteson Man's Murder: Police
Police have arrested a 17-year-old Chicago Heights boy in connection to the murder of a 23-year-old Matteson man who was found shot to death in a parked car last week, police told Patch.
Zackary Sallis was pronounced dead April 10 at around 6:30 p.m. in a parking lot at 3466 Western Avenue. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, Sallis's death was ruled a homicide as a result of "multiple gunshot wounds."

Dukes Drive-In To Reopen In New Mokena Location
Hog Wild Express in Mokena closed its doors for good April 10, but it didn't take long for another well-known restaurant to jump on the chance to take over the space inside the Gas N Wash at 19990 S. LaGrange Road.
Dukes Drive-In was a staple in Bridgeview for 44 years but closed in 2019. Now under new ownership, Dukes is expected to resurrect itself in Mokena in early June.

Would-Be Thieves Fire Shots At Oak Lawn Home, Try To Carjack Young Mom
Would-be car thieves fired shots at a witness during an attempted heist early Monday morning in Oak Lawn. This is the second time in as many weeks that car thieves shot at a vehicle owner or witness, police said. No injuries have been reported.
Just before 4:50 a.m., Oak Lawn police responded to the 5400 block of West 99th Place for a report of gunfire. A resident told police that they saw three men standing next to his neighbor's 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Neonatal ICU Expected To Open in May At Silver Cross In New Lenox
The Silver Cross Foundation hopes to raise a bundle at its inaugural Silver Social fundraiser to benefit the proposed new Amy, Matthew and Jay Vana Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Silver Cross Hospital. The event, "Celebrating New Beginnings," will be held on from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 28 at CD&ME, 23320 S. LaGrange Road in Frankfort.
