5 'Nice' Police Blotter Items to Report on Christmas Day
Missing adult found, lost property returned and a lost dog has a chance to find a home.

Not every police blotter item is bad news, as shown by the following collection from the Batavia Police Department.
If you've got to report on crime, why not post them on Christmas Day?
Missing Adult Found
A complainant who lives in the 700 block of Ridgelawn Trail told police that her brother was driving to visit his daughter in Caseyville, IL, for the holidays but had not arrived and was not answering his phone. The man was subsequently located and made contact with his family, according to a report filed at 2:47 p.m. Dec. 21.

Found ID Returned to Owner
Someone found an Illinois ID card belonging to a 19-year-old male at 7-Eleven, 336 E. Wilson St., according to a report filed at 5:33 p.m. Dec. 21. The subject was located and subsequently came to the Police Department to retrieve his property.
Still Waiting for a Happy Ending ...
These aren't happy endings yet, but they could be, thanks to the good citizens who found a bike and and dog.

- Someone found a bicycle on the parkway in front of his home in the 700 block of Pottawatomie Trail, according to a report at 10:55 a.m. Dec. 17. The bicycle was tagged and entered into evidence. Come and get it, if it's yours.
- A person who lives in the 700 bloc of Marshall Court found a stray brown or tan pit-bull-type dog, according to a report filed at 5:06 p.m. Dec. 18. Kane County Animal Control picked up the dog.
Ghost of Christmas Present?
A Batavia police officer had a chance to play the role of Ghost of Christmas Present by helping a parent or guardian show a youngster by ending an argument and making the right choice clear.
- At 6:05 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Police Department, 100 N. Island Ave., police were told that a young man has been skipping school, was not communicating about attending school and was arguing about whether skipping school was an offense. The reporting officer informed the suspect offender that he is required by law to attend school.
