A Great Evening In Sycamore For St. Peter Cross Country

The Rocket Runners continue their clash with conference rivals St. Mary of Sycamore.

The St. Peter Cross Country team was in action against their conference rivals on Thursday at beautiful Sycamore Park in Sycamore. The 5/6th team placed second behind their perennial rival and top team St. Mary of Sycamore while the 7/8th team cruised to another victory with relative ease.

St. Mary placed runners in 4 of the 5 top spots in the 1.5 mile 5/6th race with the St. Peter team following close behind. 6th grader Aaron Beck led the St. Peter Rockets with a 6th place finish in a time of 10:01 with 6th grader Aden Morvice finishing only one second later. 6th grader Isabelle Koester placed 4th out of the girls in 10:55 while 5th grader Mary Tork was the 6th girl to cross the finish in a time of 11:34. The St. Peter team edged closer to St. Mary coming in second by a score of 30 - 48 and closing the wide gap between the two teams established at the beginning of the season.

8th grader Sam McEnery won the 7/8th grade boys race and 8th grader Rachel Tork won the girls division leading the team to victory and 6 of the top ten finishing spots. The St. Peter runners scored only 25 points followed by St. Mary with 68 points.
