Batavia Blotter: Theft, Fraud and Deception — Happy Holidays
An iPhone is sold over the Internet and a broken one is returned, a business owner says an employee is stealing and a package is taken from a porch.

Ah, the holiday season! A time for fellowship, warmth, giving, theft, fraud and deception. Those last three are courtesy of the police reports we read each week. Here's a roundup from the Batavia blotter.
Package Taken From Porch
Batavia police reported at 5 p.m. Dec. 14 that a theft took place in the 200 block of North Jackson Street. The victim told police that unknown offenders took a package from the porch containing a woman’s robe with a value of $100.

Wallet Stolen During Flight to Miami
Batavia police reported a theft under $500 at 5:47 p.m. Dec. 11. The report as filed at the Police Department, 100 N. Island Center. The victim told police that she was on a flight to Miami, FL, and had her wallet stolen from her bag. Her credit card was used three times in Maimi, and all credit cards were cancelled, reports said.

Deceptive Practices Reported
Good iPhone Sold, Broken One Returned
According to a report at 2:48 p.m. Dec. 9 in the 1100 block of West Wilson Street, a victim told police he sold an iPhone to the suspect offender on eBay. The iPhone was returned damaged and was different than the one that was sold.
