Be Careful In Your Morning Commute — Icy Roads, 6 Inches Lake Effect Snow
Icy road patches and Lake Effect snow of up to 6 inches could make driving treacherous.

If you're driving into Chicago or farther east on Tuesday, be careful. There's a pretty good chance of icy roads in our neck of the woods and Lake Effect snow could add up to 6 inches of snow, the National Weather Service Chicago says.
Temperatures were expected to get down to the 20s early Tuesday morning, causing the NWS-C to issue a Hazardous Weather Outlook. "Some icy patches may develop, especially on elevated roads," the NWS-C says.
In our area, we should only see a half-inch to an inch of snow on the ground. But as of 10 p.m. Monday night the NWS-C said Lake Effect totals of "3 to 5 inches with isolated amounts of 6 inches or more" are possible near the Lake Michigan shore.
Winds gusting to 35 mph "may cause whiteout conditions," with snow falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.
