Your Pick for Best Fall Treat in Geneva: Apple Cider Gelato at 318 Coffeehouse

All of the nominees are outstanding, but your favorite fall treat is at 318 Coffeehouse.

If you want a really wonderful, fall treat, stop by and sample the apple cider gelato, if only to find out what all that buzz is about.

"My favorite fall treats are at Graham's 318. Not just the apple cider gelato but the apple pumpkin bread, etc. There's always something there for me!"

"Oh my!! Just 'thinking' about that short 45-minutes trip to 318 makes my mouth water!!! Fall = apple cider gelato ... "

"EVERYTHING is great at Graham's 318! One of my favorite places in Geneva, I love the patio, sitting in front of the fire, or hanging on the porch with friends. Geneva charm at its best!"

So, as promised in the original articles, I headed over there to give it a try.

And, of course, the day I stop by is NOT a day they serve the apple cider gelato, which is made fresh and from scratch ingrediants.

"All our stuff is genuine—the pumpkin spice gelato is made from actual pumpkin—and it's made by people who really, truly enjoy making gelato," said store manager and "World's Greatest Adventurer" Pat Ryan. "And they're great guys, too."

They really are. The staff here is absolutely terrific, and it's a joy every time you walk in the door. Since I couldn't land the apple cider, I sampled the pumpkin spice gelato, and it was outstanding. Sweet and rich and ideal for the fall season.

The 318 Coffeehouse gelato was one of several nominations for best fall treat in Geneva. Readers nominated:

  • Hot mulled apple cider in  International Food Courts
  • Honeycrisp apples from Hillside Orchards at
  • The caramel apple at
  • Pumpkin chocolate chip bread from
  • Chocolate pecan pie and pumpkin spice gelato at the
  • Apple spice geleto at
  • And just about anything from

After receiving the nominations, I took the two that had the most nominations and ran a Patch poll. Had I known that passions would rise so high in the category of , I would have skipped the poll and headed straight to the gelato bar.

As Chef Alain Roby noted, "Life is too short to battle for dessert."

But the important takeaway, I think, is that Geneva is fortunate to have two remarkable places on Third Street that create gelato and other amazing treats. I encourage you to stop by the and try the pumpkin spice gelato for yourself, if only to find out what all that buzz is about.

"I hate to pick sides, but All Chocolate Kitchen has stepped up to the plate and really hit a home run. Adding such a great asset to Geneva. Love their pumpkin spice gelato!"

"All Chocolate Kitchen's gelato is great! It really has made the Geneva area a destination."

"To be honest, there is only one place I go for the best Italian coffee and that is All Chocolate Kitchen. But their pumpkin gelato kicks butt, too! It is so authentic, it's unreal."

Congratulations to all the nominees!
