GHC is pleased to announce that a book on the history of Hotel Geneva is now available for purchase online thanks to Brian DeWolf.
Brian came to the Geneva History Center and went through the many files we have on Hotel Geneva history and put together this book. It includes the history of the hotel, newspaper accounts of deaths, movie stars and other curious happenings, personal stories from visitors, employees and family of owners, filming Road to Perdition - and, of course, photographs by Brian DeWolf and historic photos from GHC archives.
The book comes in Hardcover, Softcover PDF and eBook too! All proceeds benefit GHC.
A bit from Brian DeWolf's Introduction
"I was fortunate that the owner of the hotel, Mike Simon, gave me carte blanche in August of 2005 to photograph the interior of the Hotel Geneva just prior to its furnishings being auctioned to benefit the Geneva History Center. I didn't know much about the hotel at that time, but it held an unmistakable aura of the past. One of this book's contributors aptly referred to the hotel as a "time warp".
Newspaper Records
"June 14, 1935 Geneva Republican - Famous Movie Stars Had Lunch Here Monday; Were Enroute To Coast - Ben Lyon and his wife, Bebe Daniels, famous stars of the screen and stage, with their little daughter, were Geneva visitors during the lunch hour Monday. They stopped at Hotel Geneva and lunched in the Betsy Ross Tea Room."
Personal Recollections
"Steve & Pat Burnham - The Hotel played a special part in our spring of 1977 wedding. Living downtown, we realized the advantage our out-of-town guests would have with a central location. Where would they stay? The Hotel Geneva, of course. We walked to the hotel to reserve a block of rooms & asked to take a look at one. "Oh no, you can't go upstairs because you're not married yet!" said the owner, Mrs. Fletcher."
Read more fascinating stories and enjoy many beautiful images in this wonderful historical book of Hotel Geneva. Thank you, Brian!
