Coronavirus in Kane County: 902 Cases, 39 Deaths
Public health data shows the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Kane County has doubled since April 13.
KANE COUNTY, IL — More than 900 people in Kane County have tested positive for the new coronavirus, public health data shows. Officials reported 251 new cases between Tuesday and Thursday, bringing the county’s total to 902. Thirty-nine people in the county have died from the virus, as of Thursday, according to the data.
Statistics from the Kane County Health Department indicate a rapid increase in the number of confirmed cases this week. Kane County officials reported a total of 651 cases on Monday. Officials confirmed 33 new cases Tuesday, 80 new cases Wednesday and 138 new cases Thursday, according to the data.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Kane County has doubled since April 13, when Kane County health officials announced 450 total cases, the data shows.

According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, three people in the county have died from the virus since Monday, when Kane County Coroner Rob Russell announced 36 deaths. Russell has stressed that all deaths at Kane County hospitals are included in the statistics, though not all are Kane County residents.
Aurora accounts for more than a third of all the county’s cases, with 367 people in the Kane County portion of the city confirmed to have the virus. Once cases in all four of Aurora’s counties are included, the city’s total stands at 428, as of Wednesday. Seven people in Aurora have died from coronavirus-related conditions since March 10, when Kane County’s first confirmed case was reported.
