Court: Substance Abuse Counselor Had Sex With Young Inmate

Illinois Youth Center in spotlight again after indictment of Aurora woman.

An Aurora woman who used to work as a substance abuse counselor at the Illinois Youth Center in St. Charles reportedly had sex several times with a male inmate of the facility over the course of seven months, the Daily Herald reports.


The Daily Herald cites court records indicating that Alexa M. Rubin, of the 800 block of Pontiac Court, Aurora, engaged in sexual encounters with the youth from October 2012 through April 2013. Rubin turned herself in last week after a Kane County grand jury indicted her on felony custodial misconduct charges, which are punishable by probation to as much as five years in prison.


Rubin, 25, posted $2,500 and was released.

The Daily Herald cited the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice as indicated Rubin started with as a contract substance abuse counselor for the department more than two years ago. The department told the Daily Herald Rubin resigned from her $38,000 a year post in June.
