GENEVA, IL — The water main construction at Route 25 and Division Street is "substantially completed," Geneva officials said in an update Friday.

City crews began working on two water infrastructure projects along the Route 25 corridor at the beginning of October, the primary project being installing a new water main between State and Jefferson streets. On Division Street, workers are replacing an existing water main in preparation for a full water main replacement in 2024, Patch reported.

As of Friday, Division Street barricades were relocated once the trench across Route 25 was paved with a temporary surface. Officials said the overall Route 25 remains in place, but local traffic can once again cross the intersection.

Inclement weather delayed parts of the construction, including pavement marking and patching, seal coating and parkway restoration.

Construction operations now shifted south toward State and Jefferson streets. Work is expected to be completed in December.
