Excessive Heat Warning Causes Change In Geneva Garbage Pickup

The classic car show on Thursday was also canceled due to the excessive heat forecast, the Geneva Chamber of Commerce announced.

GENEVA, IL — Garbage, recycling and yard waste collection in Geneva will be altered Thursday as a result of excessive heat, officials said.

As a result, Lakeshore Recycling Systems will begin collection "earlier than normal" on Thursday, officials announced. Officials recommend residents set bins out Wednesday evening.

Pickup on Friday is expected to occur at the regular time.

The National Weather Service said it will be "dangerously hot" this week, with possible heat index values of up to 115. Heat indices of 115 are possible on Wednesday, and up to 110 on Thursday, Patch reported.

Friday will still be warm with a high of 89, but turning less humid during the afternoon hours, the weather service said.
