Faith Christian to launch new co-ed volleyball program this winter

Faith Christian Academy shared exciting news today that it will launch its inaugural co-ed volleyball season this winter. The co-ed season begins with the first team practice on January 14 and concludes on March 20. FCA will operate co-ed volleyball teams in 2014 and 2015 before starting a boys volleyball program in 2016!

A total of 17 students ranging from grades 4 to 8 signed up to join the Falcons' 2014 co-ed program. They are Anna Verhage, Cole Schulze, Jessica Smith, Adam Tollios, Nicki Smith, Osten Lockner, Mackenzie VanDerSnick, Grace Hansen, Taylor Tinnes, Bryce Riner, Paige Petty, Josiah Gartner, Julia Turek, Ethan Hansen, Mikey Hanley, Ben Riner and Rachel Wiedman. Coach Smith and Mrs. Weeks look forward to working with this group of players in the program's exciting opening season.

After three weeks of practices, FCA plays its first matches of the season on Thursday, Feb. 6 at Jay Stream Middle School in Carol Stream. The Falcons' first home matches are Monday, Feb. 10 against West Chicago Middle School. Faith's season schedule concludes with two matches March 17 at West Chicago, and the season ends with a match pitting the Falcons against their parents and FCA volleyball alumni on March 20.

FCA will continue running its girls volleyball program in the fall. The girls volleyball program capped its 19th year of existence in November with a seventh-place finish at the Lutheran Sports Association state tournament. Faith compiled a 39-8 record for the fall, establishing a new single-season school record for victories.
