FCA defeats Mooseheart; St. John Lutheran VB Invitational next

Faith Christian Academy defeated Mooseheart 25-9, 25-6 in the eighth-grade match and 25-5, 25-12 in the seventh- and sixth-grade match in volleyball action on Thursday at Mooseheart.

Both matches ended quickly as the Falcons led throughout each set. Jessica Smith earned the hustle award and Gigi Crescenzo and Ally Will won the best attitude award in the first match. Jessica Chiaro and Corrin Schulze shared the hustle award for the second match, while Jessica Kohlmeyer and Bethany Nielsen earned the best attitude award. Faith is now 14-2 on the season. The varsity is 8-2. The JV is 6-0.

Special credit goes to the girls for shining Christ on the court by not disparaging Mooseheart's teams through negative body language or derogatory actions of any kind. Mooseheart had some great teams in past years but looks like it's in rebuilding mode this year. Our players showed good sportsmanship by continuing to play without looking down on the opponent's struggles. Well done!

FCA plays next in the St. John Lutheran Invitational. The varsity faces Harvest Christian of Elgin in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Friday, then plays two more matches on Saturday whose times will be determined by whether the team wins or loses on Friday. The schedule is attached. If you're interested and available, come cheer on FCA!
