FCA defeats Parkview Christian before battle of Falcons

Faith Christian Academy used a team effort to beat Parkview Christian 25-13, 25-9 in varsity volleyball action on Thursday at FCA. The Falcons improved their season record to 6-1 heading into an appearance at the Aurora Christian Varsity Invitational on Saturday.

The Falcons won the first set behind four assists from Jessica Smith, two aces apiece from Lauren Caprini, Ally Will and Anna Verhage, four kills from Anneliese Lockner, four passes to setter from Ally and four service points from Meagan Clemens. Faith quickly took care of Parkview in the second set thanks to 14-14 serving by Jessica Chiaro, 6-6 serving by Gigi Crescenzo, three assists from Nicki Smith and kills by Corrin Schulze, Liz Watson and Gigi.

Ally and Corrin earned the hustle award, and Jessica Chiaro won the best attitude award.

Since the match ended quickly, the seventh-grade team and Nicki scrimmaged the other eighth-graders to give the squad some competition and preparation for Saturday's Aurora Christian Invitational. After scrimmaging for a few minutes without keeping score, five of the eighth-graders and Jessica Kohlmeyer edged the seventh-graders and Nicki 9-7 after some spirited rallies.
