Flash Flood Warning Until 10 AM Thursday

There will be periodic chances for thunderstorms Thursday and Friday, as well. Some could be severe with hail and damaging winds.

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Kane County until 10 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2013.

Emergency management agencies continue to report significant flooding across much of Northern Illinois. The Fox River will continue to rise into Thursday, as runoff from tributaries continues.

In addition to concerns about flooding in Geneva and Batavia, flash floods Wednesday played havoc with driving, commuter train travel and even inbound and outbound flights at O'Hare.

There will be periodic chances for thunderstorms Thursday and Friday, as well. Some could be severe with hail and damaging winds.

The NWS-C reminds us that most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. The best advice is to avoid water-covered bridges or roads. Never try to cross a flowing stream of water—even a small one—created by a flash flood.
