Great Weekend of Geneva Sports—Help Patch Cover It!

You've got game, too. Wouldn't it be great to see your team's story on Geneva Patch? Please help me report on the full slate for Geneva High School sports this weekend.

It's the holiday season, and the world is full of special appeals. Everyone from Wikipedia to your favorite charity is asking for a donation. You can't pass a store without a ringing bell, a kettle and a request.

Here's another one that comes from the heart and is aimed at anyone who loves Geneva sports or Geneva players.

Geneva Patch welcomes stories of sports at all levels. There's a full slate of games this weekend at the high school level alone—and I simply can't cover them alone.

Editor's Appeal to Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Fans, Players, Parents and Grandparents

As a GHS grad, member of the GHS Sports Hall of Fame Committee, longtime sports writer and lifelong Geneva fan, I bleed Geneva blue.

I want Geneva Patch to post every score of every game for every team at and both Geneva middle schools. I would love to have stories about every game, with players' names and achievements. I would love to see photos or video from the games right here, where others can see and enjoy them.

But I'm just one guy. And I have to sleep at some point.

So I'm asking your help. There are four ways you can get stories, photos and scores to me and our viewers. Here they are:

(1) THIS IS BEST—Sign up to blog on Geneva Patch. Send me an e-mail or give me a call at 630-886-0792. I'll give you blogger permissions, and you can post stories and photos that I can put in the "major feature" spot on the home page.

(2) THIS IS A CLOSE SECOND—You can post announcements right onto Geneva Patch. Just log in (or sign in if this is your first time), click the "Announcements" tab, then click on "Add an Announcement." (It's at the right.) Choose the category "Sports Awards" and we'll just pretend the word "Awards" isn't there. Write a headline, add some basic text (final score, opponent, where and when, highlights, season record) and we've got game coverage.

(3) POST PHOTOS ON OUR —This is new. You can add photos of anything in Geneva, of course, but if you take a great photo at the basketball game, for example, you can post it right here and put the score in the caption. Send me an e-mail or call me at 630-886-0792, and I'll be sure to give your announcement good play on the home page.

(4) SHOOT ME AN E-MAIL OR TEXT!—At the least, get me the final score. I can post a bulletin or put together a roundup story. E-mail is rickn@patch.com.

Take a look at some of the Geneva Patch blog posts by Brian Tork on St. Peter Church cross country, if you get a chance. (Do a search for St. Peter cross country.) And you'll see what great coverage your team—at any level—can get from a community journalist who cares about the team.

Parents and fans: You've got game, too. Please help me put share it in this festive 2011-12 winter sports season.
