Kane Co. Wrapping Up Construction on First Traffic Roundabout

Kane County will soon debut its first roundabout at Route 47 and Burlington Road in Plato Township with more roundabouts likely on the way.

Construction is expected to wrap up by mid-December on the roundabout, Steve Coffinbargar, assistant director of transportation for Kane County, told the Kane County Chronicle.

Traffic officials decided to put the roundabout in at the intersection of Route 47 and Burlington Road, which is a rural but well-traveled road, to help ease traffic congestion, according to . Roundabouts are also lauded for being safer for decreasing the severity and likelihood of a crash, Coffinbargar told the newspaper.
