Kane County Coronavirus Cases Double In 9 Days, Top 1,400 Mark
Kane County officials have confirmed more than 250 new cases since Sunday.
GENEVA, IL — Kane County health officials confirmed 74 new cases of the coronavirus on Wednesday, bringing the county's total case count to 1,460. Officials have confirmed more than 250 new cases in the county since Sunday.
The county's coronavirus case count has more than doubled since April 20, when officials reported 698 confirmed cases, Kane County public health data shows. The county saw its largest single-day increase Friday, when 105 new cases were reported.

Fifty-one people have died from coronavirus-related complications, Kane County Coroner Rob Russell announced Monday.
The number of confirmed cases continues to rise as testing capacity expands. The state of Illinois launched a drive-thru coronavirus testing site April 22 at the Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora which can collect up to 600 samples daily. VNA Health Care is offering free testing by appointment at its locations in Aurora, Elgin, Romeoville and Carol Stream.

According to the Illinois Department of Health, Kane County residents can also access tests at:
- AMITA Health Mercy Medical Center, 1325 N. Highland Ave., Aurora
- Physicians Immediate Care, 2853 Kirk Road, Aurora
- AMITA Health Saint Joseph Hospital, 77 N. Airlite St., Elgin
- Greater Elgin Family Care Center - Seneca Health Center, 450 Dundee Ave., Elgin
- Physicians Immediate Care, 2490 Bushwood Dr., Elgin
Aurora accounts for nearly 45 percent of all the county's cases, with 653 people in the Kane County portion of the city reported to have tested positive. Aurora's total stands at 757 once cases if all four of its counties are included, as of Wednesday. Eleven people in Aurora have died from coronavirus-related conditions, according to the statistics from the city.
