One HS Senior Will Be Chosen For Renewable $2.5K Scholarship
Beth Shannon Memorial Education Scholarship's namesake teacher, who died in 2016, "made a difference in the life of every child she taught."
GENEVA, IL — One Geneva High School senior will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship in honor of Beth Shannon, a Western Avenue Elementary School teacher of 19 years who died in 2016.
The Beth Shannon Memorial Education Scholarship, awarded by the Geneva Education Association, is a renewable scholarship given to a current senior who intends to pursue a degree in the field of education. To qualify, students also have to have a GPA of at least 3.0 out of a possible 4.0.
"Our hope is that this scholarship will aide a Geneva student in becoming an educator who embodies Beth's treatment of all students: with a smile, patience, encouragement, and guidance," officials said.
