Orders Open For Geneva Residents Wanting New Parkway Tree
Residents can choose from a variety of trees that would be planted on their parkway in April 2022.

GENEVA, IL — Residents who want a new tree near their property can place an order with the city's Public Works Department through Jan. 7.
Residents can choose between several options of trees — including hybrid elm, bur oak, ivory silk Japanese tree lilac and red oak — for their parkway, which is part of the city's right-of-way usually located between the sidewalk or property line and curb.
Once chosen, trees will be planted throughout April, according to Geneva officials. An application form can be found here.

City staff will be purchasing trees at a discounted rate through a contract with West Suburban Tree Consortium. As a result, residents will have to pay $150 as part of the cost-sharing program, and the city will cover the remaining share, which is more than $150, according to a news release.
For a full list of available tree types, interested residents can visit the city's website. There is a limited number available, so officials said requests will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
