Person Struck, Nook Destroyed, 18-Year-Old Charged With Domestic Battery

Geneva police arrested Victoria Mares, 18, of Geneva on charges of domestic battery bodily harm to a family member, domestic battery insulting or provoking contact and criminal damage to property after an incident at around 7:15 p.m. Aug. 16 in the 1600 block of Delaware Court, reports said.
According to the synopsis sheet, Mares returned home irate and became verbally abusive, took a Nook electronic reading device from the top of the stereo, left the residence, went to her vehicle and slammed the Nook on the vehicle dashboard. She returned to the residence and hit the victim with a closed fist in the right arm multiple times.
When the victim dialed 9-1-1, Mares threw the Nook on the pavement and broke the display screen, then left on foot. The Nook was valued at $200.
