Residents who pay their first installment of their property taxes by July 1 will not face any penalties.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Kane County residents will have an extra month to pay the first installment of this year’s property taxes after officials approved a 30-day waiver for property tax interest penalties and late fees. Kane County Treasurer David Rickert announced the measure Friday, three days after the Kane County Board unanimously passed a resolution granting the waiver.

Tax bills will be mailed to property owners by May 1, with the first installment due on or before June 1, according to a news release. Residents who pay their first installment of their taxes by July 1 will not face any penalties. First-installment payments made after July 1 will result in penalties starting at 3 percent, the release states.

Kane County is expected to lose $124,000 in revenues, which will be offset with funds from the county’s Property Tax Freeze Protection Fund, according to officials.

Kane County taxpayers can view their tax information and print bills from the Kane County Treasurer’s website starting at 10 a.m. April 29.
