Safety Improvement Projects Get Underway In St. Charles, Batavia
The project includes construction of pedestrian ramps that are complaint with the ADA. Daily lane closures are expected.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a safety improvement project will take place at various locations in Kane County. The project includes construction of pedestrian ramps that are complaint with the Americans with Disabilities. Daily lane closures will be necessary when construction activities are taking place, according to an IDOT news release.
Beginning this week, construction of new pedestrian ramps will begin at the following locations
- Illinois 64 at Renaux Boulevard in St. Charles
- Illinois 64 at New Peck Road in St. Charles
- Illinois 64 at Kirk Road in St. Charles
- Illinois 31 at Timbers Trail in St. Charles
- Illinois 31 at Viewpointe Drive in St. Charles
- Illinois 31 at Kellar Place in St. Charles
- Illinois 25 at Webster Street in Batavia
- Illinois 25 at Adams Street in Batavia
- Illinois 25 at Laurel Street in Batavia
These locations are part of the third stage of the project, according to a news release. Additional locations will be announced as construction progresses. The overall project will be completed in fall 2017.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area, according to IDOT. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
