Scanners: Friday Lockdown Ends Quickly at Kaneland Elementary School

Unofficial reports: Someone spots an armed person with body armor and a backpack outside the school.

Tri-Com scanners reported a brief lockdown Friday, Aug. 30, at Kaneland John Stewart Elementary School, 817 Prairie Valley St., Elburn,
after someone spotted what they thought was "an armed person with body armor and a backpack" outside the school.

The school was put into lockdown around 3:35 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, according to the scanner reports, and ended within about 10 minutes.

According to reports, officers formed a perimeter around the school, where they searched for a suspect or suspects in high grass until two subjects were "taken in custody" at around 3:47 p.m., Tri-Com reports indicated.

Units from St. Charles and Geneva responded, along with Elburn emergency personnel.
