St. Charles Man Gets 3 Years for Child Porn

Refugio M. Padilla Jr. escaped potentially longer sentence in plea deal with prosecutors.

A judge sentenced a 34-­year-­old St. Charles man who pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography to three years in prison, the Daily Herald reports.


The Arlington Heights-based newspaper reports that Refugio M. Padilla Jr., of the 7N200 block of Barb Hill Drive, also was fined $2,365.


According to the Daily Herald, Circuit Judge Karen Simpson accepted Padilla’s  guilty plea last week. Under the plea deal, prosecutors dropped counts of reproducing and disseminating child pornography of a victim who is younger than 13. The felony is punishable by a minimum six-­year to as long as a 30-year prison sentence.

Officers arrested Padilla at his home on Jan. 17, according to the Daily Herald, which reports that an initial examination found about 100 child porn images on his computer.
