Sweetie Petey

In rescue, there are always dogs that need homes, all of them deserving.  And then there are the ones that steal your heart.  That’s Petey.  If I didn’t have several dogs already (and just recently “foster failed”), he would be settled in my house, sleeping on my couch, and living the good life.  But since that’s not possible, maybe sharing his story will help him find his fur-ever home.

Petey is a “Landfill” dog.  He was saved from an Animal Control facility in Hardeman County Tennessee.  This particular facility sits on top of a landfill.  If the dog is not reclaimed by the owner quickly, well…let’s just say that’s why they call them “Landfill Dogs”.

Next to this particular Animal Control facility, some caring people opened an all volunteer shelter named “Hardeman Adoptable Animals”.  They rescue take as many dogs as they can and take them “down the hill” to their shelter where they either adopt them out or work with other rescue groups (like Casey’s Safe Haven) to find them homes.  I am deeply grateful to them, because that is where my “foster failure” dog is from…Sweet Delta.

Petey is about 2 years old and is said to be a Lab/Boxer/Dalmatian mix…but that is ALWAYS a guess.  Has been in a foster home (doing great), has gone through training, attends doggie day care, and loves other dogs and kids.

What Petey wishes for most is a home for Thanksgiving. He loves his foster mom(s) but he is just positive there is a family out there that is looking for a good boy like him.  If that’s you, please email Ginna:
