Faith Christian notches 29-21 win in girls basketball home opener

Faith Christian Academy's girls basketball squad evened its season record at 2-2 with a 29-21 victory over Calvary Christian on Tuesday in Faith's first home game of the season. Trailing 10-7 at halftime, the Falcons outscored Calvary 14-6 in the third quarter to take the lead for good, then expanded their lead to as much as eight points in the final quarter. Faith handed Calvary just its second loss of the season. Calvary Christian dropped to 6-2.

Anneliese Lockner led Faith with a game-high 14 points, 15 rebounds and 5 steals to earn the team's hustle award along with Lauren Caprini, who paced FCA with 7 steals, 7 rebounds, 6 points and 2 assists. Anneliese came out much more aggressive on defense and offense in the third quarter, scoring eight points to trigger FCA's rally. Terrific all-around games, Lock Ness Monster and Condor!

Jessica "Roadrunner" Smith added 7 points and 5 rebounds. Nicki "The Sneak" Smith won the best attitude award for her improved aggressiveness on defense and for looking for her shot and feeding timely passes to teammates on offense.

The Falcons look to build on their performance and start a winning streak when they take on St. Laurence at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
