Viking Golf Team Advances—as Individuals
Five Vikings will tee it up at Tuesday's sectional at Naperbrook Golf Course, but as individuals, not as a team. Geneva shoots 320 and finishes in fourth place at the Larkin Regional at Bartlett Hills.
The Geneva Vikings will send five players to the sectional tournament Tuesday at Naperbrook Golf Course, but they won't be competing as a team.
The Vikings played well—Andrew Cisco shot 74 and junior Adam Milano birdied two of the last three holes to make the top 10 sectional qualifiers—but their 320 team score was 6 short of advancing.
St. Charles East came in first at 305 on the strength of a beautiful 73 by sixth man Stephen Osland, Bartlett was second at 308 and St. Charles North third at 314.

The top three teams advance, and the top 10 scores of players not on those teams take the next step toward state, as well. Cisco's 74 was first, Geneva's Jeff Lapetina, Bill Gregory and Milano were tied with Cody Schmidt of DeKalb at 82, and Viking Ben Kale earned the 10th spot with an 83.
"We've been pretty consistent all year long. Our 2-3-4 guys have been struggling a little lately. I don't know what it is, but this time of year, it gets a little tougher to score. Our 5-6-7 guys have been playing really well and helping us," coach Bill Koehn said.

Cisco's 74 was among the best. He shot a blistering 33 on the front, then held on with a 41. Only Mike Marciniak of Bartlett and Osland of East turned in better scores.
"He (Cisco) struggled a little on the back, but otherwise, he's playing pretty solid golf. I expect he'll go downstate this year," Koehn said.
A longer story will move later.
