IDOT Postpones Route 38 Construction Project In Geneva
After weather delayed the crack sealing project on Route 38 from Elburn to Geneva, IDOT postponed the project while workers await materials.

GENEVA, IL — After inclement weather delayed the Illinois Department of Transportation's work on Route 38 from Elburn to Geneva, crews began working Sept. 14 only to run out of supplies, city officials said.
As a result, the contractor postponed the project, which involves workers sealing cracks on Route 38 from Route 47 in Elburn to Route 31 in Geneva.
Originally expected to be a five-day project that started Sept. 12 in Elburn, work did not begin until Sept. 14. Materials ran out two days later as crews completed highway repairs west of Randall Road.

It may take at least three weeks to receive the materials, pushing the project into October, IDOT told Geneva officials, according to a news release.
Once crews obtain the needed materials and finish sealing Route 38, they'll begin striping the roadway. This portion of the project was originally scheduled to start Friday.

In addition to IDOT's work, Kane County is scheduled to begin resurfacing a section of Randall Road in St. Charles Monday, which could lead to more delays in the area, city officials noted.
