LOMBARD, IL — Police say two women stole more than $2,000 from a Von Maur store at Yorktown Center in Lombard on Wednesday.

Trenity Jackson, 20, and Maniyah Lovett-Henderson, 21, both of Milwaukee, were charged with burglary and retail theft in connection with the incident. Prosecutors say Jackson was also charged with possession of burglary tools.

Officers were called to 145 Yorktown Ctr. just after 7 p.m. for a report of a retail theft. Employees reported that Jackson and Lovett-Henderson placed designer perfumes into a tote bag and a shopping cart and then left the store without paying.

“The allegations that these two women, one of them in possession of an anti-theft defeating device, entered the Von Maur store, helped themselves to more than $2,800 worth of merchandise and then simply walked out without paying, are alarming,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.

Berlin added, “The fact that within ten minutes of the initial call-out, both defendants found themselves in police custody and facing serious felony charges is a testament to the truly outstanding work of the Lombard Police Department. I thank them for their quick response in this case and for their ongoing efforts in protecting our retail establishments in DuPage County. The extremely quick apprehension of the defendants in this case sends the unmistakable message that in DuPage County, if you commit this type of crime, you will be caught, charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Jackson and Lovett-Henderson are set to appear in court again on Sept. 18.
