2017 Lakeside Pavilion Free Outdoor Summer Series Ends Aug. 11

Final week of concerts features the Orbert Davis Sextet (Aug. 10) and "The Magic of Motown" (Aug. 11)

McAninch Arts Center, located in Glen Ellyn, Ill. at 425 Fawell Blvd. on the campus of College of DuPage (COD) wraps up its 2017 Lakeside Pavilion Free Outdoor Summer Series with the Orbert Davis Sextet, Thursday, Aug. 10 and “The Magic of Motown,” Friday, Aug. 11. Both concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The Orbert Davis Sextet, featuring led by Emmy-Award winning trumpeter, composer and educator Orbert Davis will be joined by special guest trumpeters Pharez Whitted and Victor Garcia for a special salute to the late, great Dizzy Gillespie (1917-1993), renowned band leader, composer, singer and one of the best trumpeters of all time.

By popular demand, “The Magic of Motown” returns with the incredible harmonies and smooth moves made famous by the Temptations, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind, & Fire and more. This performance is sponsored by Follett’s College of DuPage Bookstore.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and bring a blanket and picnic to enjoy at the event. Holding of space for late comers or groups is not permitted. Concessions available for purchase on site include burgers, Chicago style dogs, desserts, coffee, soda, popcorn, ice cream, wine, beer and soda. Outside alcohol is not permitted onto the property as well as coolers, kegs, umbrellas, tents and skateboards.

Both concerts take place rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather, they will be moved indoors to the Belushi Performance Hall and notice will be posted on the MAC’s website, AtTheMAC.org. For additional information, call 630.942.4000.
