23-Year Sentence For Man Convicted Of Armed Robbery At Lombard Store
Lennell Owens, 47, of Chicago, pleaded guilty to armed violence in connection with the 2022 robbery of the 7-Eleven at Westmore-Myers Road.

LOMBARD, IL — A Chicago man has been sentenced to 23 years in prison in connection with a 2022 armed robbery that took place at a 7-Eleven in Lombard. Lennell Owens, 47, of Chicago, pleaded guilty to armed violence in connection with the incident.
Owens's sentencing comes two months after his co-defendant, Reginald Allen, 54, of Chicago, was sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Police were called to the 7-Eleven at 801 S. Westmore-Myers Rd. on the evening of June 11, 2022, for a report of an armed robbery. According to prosecutors, Allen demanded cash from the employee who was working at the register while Owens used a gun to demand cigarette cartons and a cellphone from another employee in the back of the store.
Owens and Allen then fled in a Jeep Wrangler and a chase ensued when police tried to pursue them, a news release said. A helicopter was brought into the pursuit, but the Jeep eventually crashed into a tree in Elmwood Park.

After the crash, police searched the car and reported finding cash, 33 packs of cigarettes and a 10mm handgun.
“In DuPage County we will not tolerate the type of violent gun crime committed by Mr. Owens and Mr. Allen,” DuPage County State's Attorney Bob Berlin said in a statement. “We will use every tool available to us, including air support and assistance from other agencies, as in this case, to apprehend anyone who would commit such a crime."
