5 Arrested for More Than 30 Vehicle Burglaries Near Glen Ellyn

All of the vehicle burglaries occurred early Monday in the area of Route 53 and Butterfield Road in unincorporated Glen Ellyn.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Five people accused of stealing one vehicle and burglarizing more than 30 more were taken into custody early Monday, authorities said.

The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating reports of more than thirty burglaries to motor vehicles that occurred in the area of Route 53 and Butterfield Road in unincorporated Glen Ellyn early Monday. At around 3 a.m. Monday, a stolen vehicle was recovered in that area, DuPage County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Robert Harris said in a news release.

A subsequent investigation led to five suspects who were taken into custody after initially fleeing from responding deputies.

Information on the suspects and possible criminal charges may be released later today.

Police do not believe that the suspects were involved in a house fire that occurred nearby early Monday.
