Man Found Dead Following House Fire in Unincorporated Glen Ellyn

The blaze reported early Monday is being investigated by the DuPage County Arson Task Force

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL - The DuPage County Arson Task Force is investigating a house fire that left one man dead early Monday.

DuPage County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Tamarack Drive and Juniper Lane in unincorporated Glen Ellyn at about 4 a.m. for a report of the house fire, according to a news release. When fire crews arrived, they found the blaze had spread throughout the home, which is located in the 22w500 block of Tamarack Drive, the Daily Herald reports.

The roof to the home collapsed shortly after their arrival, according to the article.

Firefighters entered the home once the blaze was under control and found a man dead inside, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m.

The home has been deemed uninhabitable, according to the Daily Herald.

All roadways in the area, which had been closed, have been reopened.


Police do not believe the fire is related to a string of vehicle burglaries that occurred in the same area early Monday. Five suspects have been taken into custody in connection with those burglaries.
