Clerk Escapes Through Window During Dunkin Donuts Armed Robbery

Two former employees allegedly threatened a clerk with scissors at a Glen Ellyn Dunkin Donuts before removing cash from the register.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — An armed robbery at a Dunkin Donuts in Glen Ellyn forced a clerk to escape through a drive-thru window and resulted in the arrest of two former employees, police said.

Lauren M. Petty, 31, and 46-year-old Otis L. Ramsey, both of the 600 block of Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn, are charged with armed robbery after allegedly threatening a Dunkin Donuts employee with scissors before making off with cash, cops said.

According to Glen Ellyn police, the robbery took place at around 1 a.m. Monday at the Dunkin Donuts at 651 Roosevelt Road. One of the suspects was armed with what appeared to be a knife, the employee told police. Police said the suspect actually used a pair of long scissors to threaten the employee, who called police after escaping.

With the clerk gone, the duo was able to access the cash register, and they fled the scene after taking an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

Police arrested Ramsey and Petty, who matched the employee’s description of the suspects, in the parking lot of a nearby hotel. Both are former employees of the Dunkin Donuts, police said.
