Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle crash Thursday night that claimed the life of a Bloomingdale Police Department officer.
Officer Raymond Murrell, 27, of Addison was responding to a report of a crime in progress at a store on Army Trail Road when his SUV struck a pole near Cardinal Avenue at around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, police said. Murrell was transported by ambulance to Glen Oaks Medical Center in Glendale Heights and was pronounced dead at 10:50 p.m.
Preliminary findings from an autopsy performed Friday revealed Murrell died from multiple traumatic injuries, according to a news release from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.

Murrell was sworn in as a Bloomingdale officer in April 2016.
The DuPage County Coroner's Office along with the DuPage County Sheriff's Police are currently investigating details of the accident. Toxicology and final autopsy results are pending.
