ORIGINAL ARTICLE: The village has issued a boil order for a portion of Glen Ellyn Monday following a large water main break at the Roosevelt Road crossing near the DuPage River.

The boil order goes into effect immediately, according to a village of Glen Ellyn press release.

The water main has been isolated and there is no further risk of river water entering the water main.

The boil order is being issued for the areas that are bounded by Roosevelt Road to the south, Baker Hill Drive to the west, Route 53 to the north and Finley Road to the east.

“ The reason that the boil order has been issued is because this particular area experienced a drop in overall water pressure that may have gone under 20 PSI as a result of the main break,” according to the news release.

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) requires water purveyors to issue a boil order when water pressure drops below 20

pounds per square inch.

Customers in this area should boil water for at least five minutes before consuming. The boil order will remain in effect until laboratory sampling confirms that the water quality is confirmed to be safe, which could be Wednesday at the earliest.

The Village will notify the public once confirmation is received.
