Groundbreaking Ceremony Held For Downtown Park In Glen Ellyn

GLEN ELLYN, IL — On May 1, the Glen Ellyn Park District broke ground on the site of the future Downtown Park at 453 Forest Ave.

Representatives from the Village of Glen Ellyn and Glen Ellyn Park District were present to celebrate the milestone.

Village Trustee Steve Thompson praised the park, which is projected to open in spring 2027 as "a place for connection."

Plans for the Downtown Event Park have been underway since 2022. The site was purchased by the village in 2023 and will be leased to the Naperville Park District.

The event park will include a performance pavilion for concerts, movies, classes and other events, along with a concessions building.
