The Glen Ellyn Historical Society presents Historian and Actor Terry Lynch Saturday, May 9 at 2:00 PM in the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street, as he portrays the 2nd President of the United States, John Adams. Adams was a founding father and a lawyer who could handle adversity and be part of living history. The program highlights include his challenging decision to defend the British soldiers involved in the Boston Massacre which is often framed as a movement of "adversity" and principle. Bridge Communities invites the community to its 16th annual Celebrating Women, Transforming Lives spring luncheon on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the historic Danada House in Wheaton. The event begins with a Champagne Reception at 11:00 a.m., followed by the Luncheon and Program from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
This inspiring celebration honors women who have overcome homelessness through the Bridge program, as well as community champions who have dedicated themselves to transforming lives across DuPage County. Now in its 16th year, the luncheon has become a beloved event among those committed to ending family homelessness in the region.
This year, two remarkable women will be recognized. Dr. Amy Stoeffler will receive the Transforming Lives Award in recognition of her exceptional community service and distinguished work as a healthcare professional. Join us for an afternoon of Chicagoland West English Country Dance and International Folk Dance at Grace Lutheran Church, 493 Forest Avenue, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.
Schedule:

<li>International Folk Dance: 1:00 – 3:15 p.m.</li>
<li>English Country Dance: 3:30 – 6:00 p.m.</li>
</ul>
The afternoon kicks off with International Folk Dance — a musical tour of the world featuring circle dances, line dances, and partner dances from Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. Each dance is taught and walked through before you're asked to try it. The afternoon continues with English Country Dance. ECD is social and pattern-based, with a caller guiding each dance — similar to Contra and barn dancing. Every figure is walked through before the music starts.
You can join us for the whole afternoon or drop in for just the part that calls to you. No partner or prior experience is needed!
Admission:
Suggested donation of $5–$10 for all or part of the afternoon.

Building Entrance:
Grace Lutheran is on the southeast corner of Forest and Pennsylvania in downtown Glen Ellyn. Enter through the door at the top of the ramp entrance and take the elevator to the second floor.
Parking:
Street parking is plentiful along Forest Avenue and Pennsylvania. A public lot ("Schock Square") is just one block west of the church.
Metra:
Grace Lutheran is just one block north of the Glen Ellyn Metra station (Union Pacific West Line), making it one of the easiest dance venues in the area to reach by train. Check the Metra schedule for Sunday afternoon departure times.
