Glen Ellyn Historical Society Hosts Actor/Historian Terry Lynch As George Washington

Terry Lynch shares the story of The Battle for Independence through his portrayal of George Washington Saturday, July 25, 2:00 PM, at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main Street in Glen Ellyn. He discusses how he (Washington) coordinated the battles for independence because of his “great prowess as a commander.”
Washington garnered a reputation which came long before the fight for independence – it came when there was a skirmish between the French and the Indians, which was actually the French and Indian War, also known as the “Seven Years War.”
In America, the French and Indians were battling. The French were fighting the British in different nations – it was a global battle for control of the colonies.
There would be more than 230 skirmishes throughout the 7-years as colonists fight for independence.
At the end of the war, Washington had literally given everything of his own to the cause and never asked for anything in return. Someone came up with the notion for George Washington to be the first President of the United States. Admission to this program is FREE for GEHS members and students. The admission charge is $10 for adults.
