Glen Ellyn Historical Society's 41st Pioneer Day Sunday Sept. 27 - 800 N. Main Street

For 41 years the Glen Ellyn Historical Society has celebrated Pioneer Day.  Visitors are invited to Stacy’s Historic Corners,  800 N. Main Street, Glen Ellyn, Sunday, Sept. 27, 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM  tobe transported back to the days of the 1840’s with pioneers, farm animals and many examples of the triumphs, hardships, and merriment of that era.  There is no admission charge for this experience and the audience can participate along with the pioneers in all the activities of the day.  An 1860’s classroom will be in session all afternoon for present day students.  Farm and home activities are shucking corn, weaving rope, sawing logs, and mingling with Civil War Soldiers.  Two artists are on the grounds drawing portraits of family members and designing pictures with a historic theme.  There are 2 shows in the History Center featuring Jack of All Trades,Professor Flim Flam.  In pioneer times he was an entertainer who traveled by stage coach to villages performing magic, music and stories for the pioneers.  Farm animals are on hand to get acquainted.  Goats, chickens, rabbits and beautiful horse are all ready to get acquainted.  Working on household chores is fun for the visitors.  Laundry, apple peeling, candle making, and ice cream making can be done.  Tours of Stacy’s Tavern are available all afternoon.   Call 630-469-1867 and check the website at www.gehs.org.  There is no admission  charge for this event - it is FREE for all who attend.
