Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at College of DuPage

College of DuPage will host a series of events in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on the College's Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.
Sponsored by the College’s Latino Outreach Center, the celebration will include a variety of free activities and events celebrating Hispanic art, music and culture. Learn more. Scheduled events include:
El Caoba/Flamenco Dancing Performance

Dance to Latin music, including salsa, mambo, bachata and merengue with mixes from DJ El Caobo. For more than five years, El Caobo (Earl Hall) has been producing and hosting WDCB's Mambo Clasico. In addition, experience a traditional flamenco performance from The Martin Metzger Flamenco Ensemble from Chicago.

The Magic of Monarchs
Every November, millions of monarch butterflies set flight on a remarkable 2,500-mile journey from the northeastern United States and Canada to their ancestral wintering grounds in the volcanic mountains of central Mexico. Listen to an interactive presentation by Kim White, DuPage Monarch Project Educator, on the monarch life cycle. Her lively presentations include microscopic images of monarch scales, monarch caterpillars and activities demonstrating life cycle stages.

Las Magnificas
Core Ensemble, a chamber music theater group, will perform Las Magnificas, a musical piece performed by a musical actress, cellist, pianist and percussionist. The piece explores the lives of two towering figures in Latin American history, Cuban singer Celia Cruz and Chilean singer Violeta Parra.
