As part of the honor, Pindar was given a $1,000 donation for classroom books and supplies. Pindar will also be a special guest at the Bears game this Sunday at Soldier Field and will be acknowledged during an on-field presentation, according to the District 41 Facebook post.
Pindar is credited with his ability to inspire and identify with students who need extra help, the Daily Herald reports. The 46-year-old Aurora man suffered with mild dyslexia as a kid and low self-esteem but had teachers and football coaches that pushed him to do better, according to the article.
