Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale Receives $5000 Arts DuPage Grant from DuPage Foundation

$5000 Grant received to support concerts at senior living facilities.

Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale received a $5000 grant through DuPage Foundation’s Arts DuPage grant program to help support concerts at senior living facilities. Through its seed and sustain grant model, Arts DuPage supports both emerging and established arts organizations whose work impacts, improves, and enriches the quality of life of DuPage residents. This fall, Arts DuPage awarded more than $240,000 in grants supporting arts and culture across DuPage County.

The Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale’s mission is to develop the musical abilities and awareness of its members, to provide participants and audiences with an enjoyable and creative outlet for their cultural needs, and to remind the community of the beauty and universality of music in every sense.

“Our goals of the concerts at senior living facilities are to bring music to those seniors who often face challenges in traveling to concerts at outside venues and to stimulate memory and awareness for residents with memory impairments,” says Marisa Nickol, President of the Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale.Music has been shown to find stored memories more easily and help senior with dementia reconnect with the world around them.

“So much passion and commitment go into a successful grant cycle like this,” said Lisa Fanelli, chair of the Arts DuPage Advisory Committee. “Strong participation in the application process from the arts organizations, the comprehensive efforts of the grant selection committee, and the generosity of donors that allow us to fund at this level are all important pieces. We are thrilled to be able to significantly support the arts in DuPage and help provide a variety of opportunities and options for the community to enjoy.”

In addition to Arts DuPage and other specialized grants, DuPage Foundation awards grants twice yearly through its signature Community Impact grant program, supporting initiatives that enhance the quality of life for DuPage County residents and provide essential support to the community’s nonprofits. Applications for the spring grant cycle, awarding grants in the area of health and human services, will open in January 2027. See dupagefoundation.org/grant-opportunities/ for more information.
