Cleve Carney Art Gallery Hosts Artist Reception for Leslie Baum: “Here Comes the Rainbow" Sunday, Aug. 27, 1-3 p.m.
Other Free Special Events Include Tours of the Exhibit Preceded by 15-Minute Mindfulness Meditation Sessions Sept. 7, 13, 19 and 25 and More

Glen Ellyn’s Cleve Carney Art Gallery, located at 425 Fawell Blvd. on the campus of College of DuPage, begins its 2017-2018 exhibition season with an exhibit of paintings and works on paper by the artist Leslie Baum entitled “Here Comes the Rainbow” Aug. 24-Sept. 29. For this exhibition, Baum will be debuting two new bodies of work that use the seven hues of the rainbow as a launching point. Central to the installation will be seven monumental paintings on un-stretched canvas that will be mounted directly on a 45-foot long section of wall in the gallery. This exhibition may be viewed during regular gallery hours: Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and one hour prior to McAninch Arts Center (MAC) performances and during intermission. Admission to the gallery is free.
In conjunction with the exhibition, there will be an Artist Reception Sunday, Aug. 27 from 1-3 p.m. This reception is free and open to the public. Additional events for this exhibition include
- a tour of the exhibition by Gallery Director Justin Witte on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m.
- a discussion with the artist of her work on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m.
- a 15-minute mindfulness meditation sessions followed by a tour of the exhibit on Thursday, Sept. 7; Wednesday, Sept. 13; Tuesday, Sept. 19 and Monday, Sept. 25. The mindfulness meditation sessions will begin at 11 a.m. on meditation pillows made by the artist in a room built into the exhibit. The sessions will be led by Naperville’s Margaret McKenzie, former instructor and originator of the meditation class at COD. McKenzie has studied Buddhism for many years and has been meditating for more than 25 years. Margaret holds a master of social work degree from Aurora University and is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW).
