COD Officials Offered Counterproposal This Week During Inaugural Mediation Session

College of DuPage (COD) officials are encouraged by the improved dialogue following this week’s involvement of a federal mediator during new contract negotiations with the full-time faculty union (CODFA).

President Dr. Brian Caputo noted the negotiating team’s counterproposal was offered in good faith to meet the College’s shared goal of student success.

“As we work toward ensuring that all students receive a high-quality education at an affordable price, it is vitally important that our counterproposal was carefully crafted to balance the varying requests of both parties,” he said.

College of DuPage Board of Trustees Chairman Frank Napolitano echoed those sentiments.

“We think it’s time to get a new contract in place and believe our faculty would agree,” said Napolitano. “To achieve a new contract, both sides need to move expeditiously and in good faith. For COD, we must carefully balance our fiduciary responsibility to the taxpayers of District 502, while ensuring that we reach an agreement that is fair and equitable to our valued full-time faculty members.”

“Our Board serves as the steward of the College’s financial future and we want to forge ahead in a responsible manner and ensure a strong financial future for not only this generation of students but for those yet to come,” Napolitano added.
